MAUREEN Fieldsend thought fostering two homeless cats would keep her spirits up when she fell ill. Now 18 months later she has found homes for more than 200 unwanted moggies.
Maureen, of Greenacre, Springvale, is so passionate about finding loving homes for her feline friends that she set up her own charity — Maureen’s Penistone Cat Rescue.
Former frozen food manager Maureen said: “I got my cats from Royston Animal Welfare and thought the job they did was excellent. There was no one like them in Penistone so I decided to get involved. “Family and friends have helped get it off the ground and I feel lucky to be making a difference.” Maureen was getting hundreds of calls every week so husband Richard set up a website for the charity in August.
Maureen is hosting a charity jewellery party at Cubley Hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. For any information about the charity call 761872 or visit www.penistone-cats.co.uk.
