A TEENAGER from Mapplewell has won his fight to keep his business open after a six -month battle with planners.

David Tasker, 17, has been granted permission to run DT Motocross on Spark Lane after he and his mum appealed against the council’s decision to refuse planning permission.

The council knocked back the retrospective planning application to change the use of the front room to a shop following complaints from residents about noise and smell of petrol. However, a government inspector has now upheld the family's appeal.

Mum Sherie Jones, 41, said: “It’s good because I don’t think it should have got that far in the first place.

“We don’t keep petrol on the premises and the place has been a shop for more years than it’s been a house.”

The teenager and his mum mounted an appeal with the support of nearly all the other shops in the village as well as several neighbours.
