PUPILS from Greenacre special school have completed a seven week fire-fighter training course.
The year 11 students were taught first aid, safety and rescue skills by crews from Barnsley Station. Manager Simon Dillon paid tribute to the teenagers' enthusiasm and determination.
He added: "They took part in a scenario where a young child was trapped by fire, the team had to lay out two lines of hose and provide a protective curtain of water to allow the daring rescue to take place.
“All the pupils and instructors have worked incredibly hard to put on what has been a challenging but extremely rewarding course.”
The youngsters marked the end of the course with a passing out parade and demonstration in front of family and friends.
