A BOLTON homeowner says his garden floods every time there is heavy rain and it has only been happening since the train station behind his home was rebuilt last year.
Simon Rafferty, 25, says two drains in the car park are constantly blocked with mud, silt and leaves, preventing the rainwater from running away.
Instead it gushes into Simon's back garden on Manor Way and that of his neighbours, but no-one wants to take responsibility for it.
Simon, a scientist, claims that whenever rain is forecast he has to lift up the two manhole covers in his back garden so the water can escape but that is leading to other problems.
He said: "Leaving the manhole covers up means we are susceptible to rats which we have had a couple of. The first time the garden flooded we were having dinner and it was ankle deep, just like a whirlpool. I am in no way comparing this to those who have had their houses flooded but it still is not good."
A spokesman for Network Rail said there was a gravel path which acts as a soak away but due to the amount of rain recently it wasn't able to cope with the amount of water. Work is expected to take place on the drains but hasn't been carried out yet.
