A TEENAGER who was attacked by two Dalmatians says he wants the dogs destroyed.

Lee Cusworth, 13, was bitten on his face and leg in what he described as an unprovoked attack near his home on Dearne Road, Brampton.

He was taken to Barnsley Hospital and later Sheffield Children’s Hospital where he needed two hours of surgery and 22 stitches to his nose and mouth.

Lee, a pupil at Wombwell High, said: “I’ve seen the dogs roaming the streets before. I knew who they belonged to but as I walked past they got aggressive and when I bent down to pull one away from my leg the other jumped and bit me in the face.

“It all happened quickly, there was blood everywhere and the next thing I knew I was in the back of an ambulance. I was really scared as I couldn’t see what injuries I had and everyone seemed really worried.”

Lee, who will be scarred for life from his injuries, says he can’t even play with the family dog anymore as he is worried what might happen.

According to neighbours, the dogs are known for ‘roaming the streets’ and have attempted to attack people before.

Owner Beverley Wragg, of Moorbridge Crescent, is seeking legal advice and said she believed only one of the dogs was involved.

She said: “I don’t know what has gone off, my nephew opened the gate, which we always keep locked, and the dogs have come out. My dogs have never bitten anyone before, they’re Dalmatians and it’s not in their nature. If they have done this it is a terrible accident and my heart goes out to the lad.”

But she added: “That family has had a feud with us for years. The police have told me that it’s my decision whether I have the dogs destroyed; I am waiting to hear if it goes to court.”
