Thirty-two years ago four young swimmers who were members of Barnsley Metropolitan Swimming Club, took part in the North Eastern Counties Championships at Stockton and were delighted to come away with two medals, in spite of strong opposition.
They claimed a silver in the freestyle team event and a bronze in the medley team. The team was from left to right: Susan Owen, Carol Lanceley and her twin sister Sharon, and Elizabeth Parkin, all aged 13.
The championships took place on November 15 1977.
