BARNSLEY Hospice’s annual golf day raised more than £10,000 to support the specialist palliative and end-of-life care they provide.

Hosted at Silkstone Golf Club, 22 teams competed for the top spot and helped make a difference.

After 18 holes in the bright sunshine, £10,296 was raised through team entries, a luxury raffle and donations on the day.

This is the second year in a row that the day has surpassed five figures, after a record-breaking event last year for the hospice’s 30th anniversary.

The team from Smart Interiors finished in the top spot and donned green jackets in honour of the Masters Tournament tradition, while David Probyn and team took second place and ‘Bogey Pickers’ in third.

Simon Atkinson, corporate partnerships manager at Barnsley Hospice, said “It was amazing to see so many familiar faces returning for another year, as well as other local businesses getting involved for the first time by entering a team or sponsoring a hole.

“The day is always an exciting event in our calendar, and a great chance to catch up with local businesses who support us throughout the year.

“But, most importantly, the players’ generosity makes a huge difference to the care and support we can deliver at the hospice.
