A coroner has said a woman of 30 who died after a routine bowel operation could have survived if her concerns had been taken seriously.
David Urpeth said Kirsty Woods, who died of of an infection 12 days after the operation at Barnsley Hospital, and her family expressed their worries on a number of occasions.
Mr Urpeth, who recorded a narrative verdict, said: "These were not taken sufficiently seriously or acted upon appropriately. If the peritonitis had been diagnosed earlier Kirsty would have been able to undergo further surgery and would very likely have survived."
Her dad Bernie called the verdict 'bittersweet'.
