A COUPLE of Tottenham Hotspur fans from Barnsley drove 24 hours straight to Spain last week to watch their side win their first trophy in over a decade.

Shannon Miller, 27, and her partner 29-year-old Levi Ripley, both from Worsbrough, told the Chronicle they wouldn’t have missed their team play in the Europa League final against Manchester United for the world.

But after seeing the price of travel, the duo decided that they’d drive for a full day in Shannon’s Fiat 500 - and she says it was well worth it as they saw Spurs lift the trophy.

Shannon said: “We set off from Barnsley at 9pm Sunday night and drove straight through France and Spain (getting the ferry from Dover) to reach Bilbao at 9pm on Monday night.

“We had Monday and Tuesday night in an apartment in Bilbao, however we slept in the Fiat the day of the game and then drove back through Spain and France, getting the ferry from Calais.

“We got back to Dover around 11pm on Thursday evening and drove back to Barnsley.

“Myself and my partner took turns in driving and sleeping throughout the journey.

“We had a look at flights and the ferry straight to Bilbao however it was too expensive, so we decided the only way to do it was drive 24 hours straight in the Fiat 500.
