A ROYSTON primary school is celebrating this week following a miraculous turnaround which has seen Ofsted rate it ‘good’ after being told it ‘requires improvement’ at its previous two inspections.
Meadstead Primary Academy, based on Meadstead Drive, received its first ‘good’ rating by Ofsted since 2015 following an inspection last month.
Meadstead is part of Lift Schools, one of the largest networks of schools in the country.
In their report, Ofsted highlight the school’s strong leadership, inclusive ethos and well-sequenced curriculum.
Inspectors described Meadstead as ‘a safe and welcoming hub of the community’, where pupils feel cared for and enjoy coming to school.
Principal Lee Bell told the Chronicle: “This result reflects the incredible hard work, care and ambition of our whole school team.
“We are committed to giving every child the best possible start in life, and it’s wonderful to see that recognised by Ofsted.
“I’m particularly proud of the relationships we’ve built with families and the high aspirations we hold for every pupil.
“Meadstead is a special place - and this report shows exactly why.”
Craig Nicholson, regional director for the trust, added: “This inspection outcome is a brilliant achievement and a well-deserved reflection of the work that has taken place at Meadstead in recent years.
“The staff have shown real dedication, care and professionalism - not just in what they teach, but in the way they nurture, guide and inspire their pupils every day.
“It’s clear that Meadstead is a school with ambition, heart and a bright future.”
