BARNSLEY are due to play a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday.
Details of the match are not being shared but it is understood to be at a neutral venue while Conor Hourihane said in an interview with the club media team they would face ‘really, really good opposition.’
The Reds played two pre-season games this week, at National League North clubs in the East Midlands.
They drew 1-1 at Worksop Town on Saturday then lost 3-1 at Buxton on Tuesday – the latter with a very young side of under 21s and trialists.
They had won 3-0 at Northern Premier League club Emley AFC last week in their first pre-season game of the summer.
Barnsley are due to visit League Two Harrogate Town on Saturday, July 19 then National League York City the following Tuesday.
The Reds are then expected to go away for a few days within the UK, including another behind-closed-doors friendly match on the final weekend before the season starts with a long trip to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, August 2.
Their EFL Cup tie with League Two Fleetwood Town has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 13. That means they will have three successive home matches as the cup tie is between league games against Burton Albion and Bolton Wanderers on the 9th and 16th respectively.
