BARNSLEY North MP Dan Jarvis has praised a new ten-year health plan which aims to change the way the NHS operates.

Some of the major changes include moving from hospital care to community care and from treating sickness to preventing ill health.

A key part of the plan is the launch of the new Neighbourhood Health Service.

This will see pioneering NHS teams, often located under one roof, embedded within local communities across the country to dramatically improve access to care.

Dan said: “Here in Barnsley, we’re already showing what modern, community-focused healthcare can look like through the trailblazing Community Diagnostic Centre and developments to the Alhambra in the town centre.

“By bringing more care into our communities and investing in digital innovation, patients will get quicker, more convenient access to the support they need.

“The government’s plan will only further strengthen local healthcare, enhance services here in Barnsley, and help deliver a more responsive, preventative NHS right across the country.”
