MURPHY Cooper would have swapped his man of the match performance for a win at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday and praised the Barnsley fans who made the long journey.

Cooper produced several impressive saves on Saturday in the Reds’ 2-0 loss in London.

Asked if he can take comfort from his individual performance despite the result, he told the Chronicle: “Not really.

“I know there were a few saves and a few moments which were good. But I will look back at the goals and see if I could have done better.

“The most important thing is to win. I would rather have won 1-0 and not touched the ball all game. I am happy with my performance but there are things I could have done a lot better.”

Barnsley were backed by 1,206 fans at Wimbledon.

Cooper said: “They have been brilliant.

“For every single game, they’ve travelled in numbers, you can hear them and their support means a lot.

“As a team and a club, we’re grateful for the fans who travel home and away to support us.

“It makes a big difference seeing a 1,200 sell-out behind the goal, it fills us with confidence and they keep us going.

“We would have liked them to have a long journey back with a win but hopefully we can put it right in the next games.
