MISSED bin collections are continuing to blight a ward - and a councillor who has fielded scores of complaints from residents has urged a review of new technology to be carried out.
Waste collection workers used a paper-based system while out on their rounds - including a map which stated where they needed to go to collect bins.
Any missed bins due to badly-parked cars or any bins that need to be tagged due to the state they are in were written down and handed into bosses at the end of the shift - though this is now changing.
The rolling out a new digital system - called ‘In Cab’ - was hailed as something which could improve efficiency and reduce the number of bins that are missed.
However, Coun Jake Lodge, who represents the Worsbrough ward, said teething problems had been encountered locally and called for a review to be carried out.
He said “Residents have shown real patience throughout these changes, but many are understandably frustrated when their bins are missed.
“People expect a consistent, dependable service - especially after hearing about significant investment in new routes and systems.
“I recognise this investment, but we have to make sure that new systems are properly tested and that frontline crews have the support they need to deliver for residents.”
