WOMBWELL’S three councillors paid a visit to Wombwell Town last week to meet with club volunteer Mark Shakespeare and to enjoy a tour of the Recreation Ground Stadium.
Couns James Higginbottom, Brenda Eastwood and Robert Frost said that it was a great experience and they are looking forward to see how the club evolves as a community hub moving forward.
They added: ““It was a great pleasure to visit Wombwell Town FC and see firsthand the continued transformation of their stadium, which is testament to the hard work and dedication of all involved with the club.
“It is clear that Wombwell Town FC are committed to being a real community hub and opening up opportunities at grassroots level for young people in the area to get into football.
“We’d like to wish the club every success, both on and off the pitch, in their journey and are pleased to offer our support wherever we can.”
