ELDERLY residents are being invited to attend monthly events at a town centre pub aimed at supporting them through the cold winter months.
The team at the Shaw Inn, on Racecommon Road, have begun a monthly event where they invite everyone over 65 to come to the pub and enjoy the warmth, hot food and drinks, all free of charge.
They launched the events last year to great success and they’ve brought them back for this year.
Darren Buckley, landlord at the pub, said: “In the three months, from October to December, we put on an event each month for any senior citizens or any cared for people.
“The last one in October we invited them to come to the pub and gave everyone a three course meal absolutely free of charge.
“We also had Ronnie Steele there to entertain them.
“We are really passionate about supporting our community and just want as many people as possible to benefit from it.”
The next event will take place at the pub on November 27.
