A SCOOTER-RIDING prodigy has revealed how childhood fame has impacted his life.
Charley Dyson, 18, kickstarted his passion for scooters 13 years ago and hasn’t looked back since.
Over the span of his impressive career, the Wombwell-born prodigy has enjoyed moments often only dreamed of - including travelling the world and competing against champions to being sponsored by a major scooter brand.
However, back at home, Charley’s regular stomping ground is the Dexx skatepark in Brampton - where he has been perfecting his craft since being a youngster.
Amazingly, Charley has been sponsored by Madd Gear as a ‘pro rider’ since the age of seven - and even has his own line of signature scooters in collaboration with them.
His kit of choice is an MGO Origin scooter.
Charley is no stranger to the screen, appearing on ITV’s Little Big Shots and debuting on televisions across the world - including the UK, America, Italy, Belgium, Germany and China, showing off his unique talents.
After that, Charley appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, astonishing judges and being unanimously put through to the next round.
Among his accolades stands a Proud of Barnsley award in the Young Superstar category in praise of his sporting talents.
In September, Charley took first place at the Extreme Barcelona scooter park final.
Charley bagged a cash prize of £2,000 and a medal in honour of his big win.
Most recently, he jet-set to Japan, competing in the World Championships and impressively placed in the top 10 - after a difficult fall in his finals run.
He said: “Last month I went to the world championships in Japan, which was pretty crazy.
“I was down there for a week and it was split over qualifiers, semi-finals and finals.
“I ended up getting all the way through to the finals and rode really well.
“I didn’t get the result I wanted in the end, but it was a really good experience and a good trip.
“A lot of my inspiration came from just enjoying riding scooters.
“I got one at such a young age and I got pretty good on it - then Youtube and social media became a big thing and I got influenced by other riders.
“When I was young, Ryan Williams was my biggest inspiration, because he was doing the craziest stuff.
“Growing up the way I did is a different experience to what other people have - it’s really cool and I enjoy it, but it doesn’t make too much difference to me.
“I’m just the same kid that grew up riding scooters and I still love it.
“Outside of scooters I like playing golf and watching football.
“I’m a Sheffield United fan, through and through.
“Going into 2026, I have a big competition season coming up and will hopefully go to the World Championships.
“I want to travel as much as I can, compete in different countries and become the World Champion.
“My ultimate goal is being the best at the sport that I love doing.”
