A PANTOMIME director has shared the process of crafting an upcoming production.

With 23 youngsters taking stage in this year’s Trinity Players’ pantomime, director Alice Love had her work cut out for her.

The members of the award-winning junior section have been hard at work honing their craft.

But it hasn’t been the young actors creating challenges, it’s the adults.

For Alice, directing is a family affair, with her dad, Bob Willerton making suggestions reflecting his experiences.

Jack and the Beanstalk is being staged at Trinity’s Crookes Street Theatre, from January 23-25 with more showing from January 30 to February 1.

She said: “Many of our Trinity juniors have family within the cast, but they are also a family of their own.

“It’s been lovely to see them grow and develop over the years under guidance from our choreographer, Joe Battye not to mention winning Barnsley’s ‘Young Entertainers’ award, as they did in June.

“My difficulties, however, are not confined to Dad’s rehearsal suggestions.

“My husband, Dean, has appeared in 17 Lamproom Theatre pantomimes, the last nine as the Dame.

“He’s my biggest critic, but he appreciates that I have been involved in every Trinity pantomime, which he supports as a community venture. “He even says I could direct him.”
