A NEW exhibition will celebrate mental health resilience.

The powerful ‘Voices of Hope Exhibition’ is coming to St John’s Church, in Penistone, on Thursday March 26 - as a part of Penistone Arts Week.

Doors open at 7.15pm, with the event starting at 8pm and finishing at approximately 10.30pm.

The exhibition shares the real stories of nine people, all who have experienced severe mental health struggles - including suicide attempts, and are here today to share what helped them survive their darkest moments.

The unique show has been curated by Mick Rowe, founder of Suicide Sucks CIC and the host of a mental health podcast.

Mick created Suicide Sucks CIC after the tragic death of her brother, James, who lost his life to suicide in 1996.

Voices of Hope brings these stories out of headphones and into a shared community space, focusing on hope and recovery.

Visitors will be able to listen to audio excerpts from each voice throughout the venue - alongside artistic interpretations created by nine artists.

The exhibition also features portrait photography, by Kat at Bumblebugs Photography.

The evening will include live entertainment from Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir and a guest singer, guest speakers - and a live question and answer session.

Refreshments will be available and a raffle will take place on the night.

Mick hopes the event will encourage open conversations around mental health and suicide and reduce the stigma surrounding the topics.
