OLIVER Rowland made the podium for a third time this Formula E season but fell further adrift of the lead overall after two races in Saudi Arabia this weekend.

The 32-year-old from Penistone came third in the second race in Jeddah, and the fifth of the season, having qualified in fourth.

In the first race of the event, he finished 17th.

Rowland moved up a place to third in the overall standings but the gap to first increased from six to 19 points.

He said: “I’m delighted to score another podium in Jeddah.

“I’ve struggled over the last two events with one-lap pace, but we made many changes overnight and it paid off as we lined up fourth.

“I took up the lead in the opening stages to stay out of trouble as these peloton-style events can be dangerous when further back.

“It was a well-managed race and it’s great to be back on the podium.

“I want to say a massive thanks to the team who worked late into the night making adjustments which made this result possible.”

The calendar now calms down with the next event in Madrid on March 21 before another break until May.

There are 12 races remaining in total in the campaign which finishes in London in August.
