A GROUP of musically talented youngsters have received high praise for their electric performances.
Hot Wyre, a group of music-loving lads, are proof that hard work and passion are a winning combination.
The band are comprised of Owen Botham, drummer, 15, George Halford, lead singer/guitarist, 14, Dylan Sellars, bass player/guitarist, 15 and Sonny Buckingham, rhythm guitarist, 12.
Covering rock and indie classic bands like Nirvana and Radiohead it’s safe to say Hot Wyre have already established their signature sound.
Unbelievably, the band members all go to different schools and met by chance over an advertisement for young performers on Facebook.
Despite only performing together for 14 months, their passion for entertainment has captured the attention of major venues and festivals.
From playing pubs around the borough, to performing at festivals and the Bradford Bulls’ stadium, Hot Wyre have established themselves as a band to watch out for.
Most recently, the up-and-coming talents secured victory at Horizon Community College’s battle of the bands, exhibiting their musical prowess.
The band have a lot to celebrate, adding a Young Champions nomination to their impressive list of achievements.
Andy Botham, Owen’s dad, enthused about the band’s maturity, firmly believing they are setting themselves up to go far.
He said: “They’ve only been together for about 14 months, but they’ve played something in the number of 20 gigs.
“They’re playing music way beyond their years and going from strength to strength.
“They’re all really good lads, they work hard in school, they’re very polite and now, they’re taking their music to the next level.
“They’ve played in festivals and even the Bradford Bulls’ stadium in front of thousands of people.
“Hot Wyre played at Vault 27 a few weeks ago, supporting Weedipus with their album launch gig.
“They did so well that Vault 27 are interested in having them back by themselves.
“We’re really proud and they’re doing amazingly for themselves.”
