MORE than £3,000 was raised on a charity takeover day at Oakwell recently.

In Barnsley’s League One game against Exeter City at Oakwell, charity Paces held a takeover day supporting the national Unite for Access Level Playing Field campaign.

It’s a charity that has supported Barnsley youngster Louie George throughout his life.

For Louie, choosing Paces was life-changing.

Since joining the school, he has flourished physically, socially and emotionally.

His mum Jodie told the Chronicle the school is ‘like a family’ and before the match Louie was able to walk on to the pitch with his brother, Jake, and dad Tom.

She said the club couldn’t have done any more to support all the family during the day and more than £3,000 was raised to support the charity’s efforts.

The money was handed over to the charity last Thursday.
