THESE two young designers will see their work on display at a fashion show in Sheffield next week.

Katharine Jackson, from Caxton Street, and Emily Sharp, from Shafton, will be among a group of four Barnsley designers to see their work on the catwalk.

Katharine, 22, designed the dress pictured and Emily, 23, is wearing one of her own waistcoats. Katharine said: “It’s completely one off - there are no others. They’re all hand made.”

She has already sold 30 pieces since last year and expects the dress, which took her a day to make, to sell for about £200.

The hard work doesn’t end with making the clothes, however.

“At the shows, we don’t get to sit down and see the fruits of all our labour, because we’re always out the back making sure everything runs smoothly.

“It’s nerve-wracking trying to get people into the outfits quickly without ripping anything.”

The show is at DQ’s bar in Sheffield on next Tuesday, starting at 8pm.
