Former Barnsley manager Mark Robins will be desperate for his Huddersfield Town side to beat his old club tomorrow and send them down to League One, according to current Reds boss David Flitcroft.

Robins left Oakwell in controversial circumstances after 20months in charge in May 2011 following a dispute over a cut in the budget and was replaced by Keith Hill and Flitcroft. He was without a club for more than a year before spending five months at League One Coventry then joining Huddersfield this year.

Flitcroft said: "I think Mark will be desperate to beat us because he spent time here and it's his old club. He'll send his team out to beat us. But we're not thinking about Mark Robins, we're thinking about us."

At Thursday's press conference at the John Smith's Stadium, from which Barnsley journalists were banned, Robins told reporters: "All I will say is that I was employed there for a while, but no longer. I enjoyed my time at Barnsley, but now my focus is very much on Huddersfield.

"Give credit to Barnsley and David Flitcroft because, since he's taken over, they've been a good side who have picked up points. We know it won't be easy, but nor will it be for Barnsley."

Robins won 29 of his 92 games as Oakwell boss and has guided the Terriers to six victories in 15 matches. There has been a huge clearout of players in the two years since Robins left Oakwell although he did work with Reds stalwarts Luke Steele, Stephen Foster and Bobby Hassell. Jim O'Brien is the only one of his signings that remains at the club but he did bring Marlon Harewood and Jacob Mellis in on loan and worked with Chris O'Grady at Rotherham.

The Reds won on their last trip to Huddersfield in the League One play-off semi-final second leg in 2006. When they return there tomorrow – in front of an estimated crowd of more than 20,000 including a sold out away section of 4,000 – they will have Stephen Dawson back from a three-match ban.

Neil Danns is injured for Town but Jermaine Beckford, who has four goals in three games, is expected to return after missing the win at Bristol City on Saturday. Top-scorer James Vaughan hit a hat-trick in that game and has 13 goals this season.
