OLD Town is in danger of becoming a dumping ground for children’s homes, according to local councillors.
Couns Bill Gaunt and Sandra Birkinshaw spoke out after private company Care Today revealed plans to turn a Gawber Road house into a home for six youngsters.
Similar homes already exist on Rockingham Street and on Huddersfield Road, where controversy erupted when the plans to convert a house were first made public in February.
Coun Gaunt says a lack of information about the Gawber Road scheme could see a similar reaction from residents.
Under the proposals submitted to the council, the home would cater for up to six children with staff in attendance.
