Brave ladies from an amateur theatre group will dare to bare all when a stage version of hit 2003 film Calendar Girls arrives in Penistone.
Razzmatazz Adults take to the stage for a four-day run of the show, which focuses on a women's institute's attempt to raise funds for a local hospital by posing for a nude calendar following the death of a member's husband.
Directed by Louise Armitage, from Stairfoot, the show features Diane Bickerdike in the role of Chris, played on screen by Helen Mirren, with Jenni Crummack recreating Julie Walters's character Annie.
Louise, 37, who directed a successful run of the production at the Lamproom Theatre, Barnsley, in April, said: "It's an absolutely fantastic story and really bitter sweet.
"It's funny and you laugh a lot but there are times when you cry as well. It's a lovely feel-good production despite the fact it all started because of something so sad."
Rehearsals for the Penistone production started about two months ago, with some members of the Lamproom cast retaining their roles, others switching to new ones and new performers also involved.
The production at the Barnsley theatre raised more than £2,000 for the Leukaemia Research Fund through the sale of calendars, and the items will also be available for purchase in Penistone.
Director Louise, a drama teacher, has been involved with Razzmatazz for five years and said the show's nude scenes created a few nerves for some of the cast.
"There are some people who have done it before and are more confident, particularly the ones who were in the show at the Lamproom because the audience is much closer there.
"We do have some different challenges in Penistone because the venue has a balcony - which changes sight lines - so we had to take that into consideration.
"You tend to find when people have done the photo shoot for the calendar they get over their initial nerves. It's all about camaraderie."
The show runs from Wednesday until Saturday, starting at 7.30pm at Penistone Paramount. For tickets call 767532.
