Chris O'Grady could be worth up to three million pounds by the January transfer window, says his manager David Flitcroft.
The 27-year-old striker has three goals already this season and the Reds boss believes he could add ten more by the end of 2013. Flitcroft said: "We've invested in Chris O'Grady and if he gets 12 or 13 goals before Christmas we could be looking at a two or three million pound striker. I don't think there's anything like him in the Championship with his profile, his strength, his mobility and his athleticism. We just need to add a stack of goals."
O'Grady told the Chronicle: "My aims for this season are to play as many Championship games as possible and the goals will come from that. I want as many goals, points and wins as I can get. I scored 12 last season and I would like to beat that."
O'Grady, who scored the winner against Huddersfield last time out as the Reds got their first league win of the season, has been one of the stand-out performers in a slow start to the season for Barnsley and he admits that the players were surprised not to pick up more points early on. He said: "It's been a bit strange because we came back at the start of the season assuming it was going to be like it was last season. But it takes a bit of time to replicate that and find the formula that got us good results at the end of last season. It has been a surprise how we started the season but things are coming together now."
