A NEW estate of 301 homes at Redbrook has been given the go-ahead by the council.

A new roundabout on Wilthorpe Road to provide access to the estate between The Crescent and Wilthorpe Avenue being built by Persimmon Homes.

Persimmon Homes will also have to provide funds towards the education department because of the increased demand the estate will put on schools.

The houses will be a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes, including bungalows, terraced houses semi-detached and detached, as well as an apartment block.

The site is currently agricultural land and privately owned.

There were 20 letters of objection to the plan, highlighting increased traffic and loss of green space among a long list of concerns, but councillors voted it through on Tuesday.
