ANOTHER private day nursery may be forced to close a week after Hill Brow Day Nursery directors announced they were going out of business.
The Rambles Day Care Centre in Kexborough is struggling to stay afloat despite substantial investments over a couple of years.
Director Gary O’Callaghan said it is running at a loss despite the fact that he and his partners have never taken profit from the business in its seven-year history.
When the nursery was doing well there were about 40 children on the books but that figure has dropped to less than half.
The plight of private day nurseries has been blamed by owners on the introduction of government funded Children’s Centres — which have provided a cheaper alternative for parents.
