A DEMENTIA charity has suffered a financial setback after yobs vandalised its summer house.

Barnsley Independent Alzheimer's and Dementia Support, on Dodworth Road, is having to pick up the bill to repair the summer house at the side of the centre after its roof and lighting was damaged overnight on Monday.

Chief officer Linda Pattison said it was bought last year through fund-raising for the centre's users.

Linda said it had come at a bad time that the charity is already facing financial hardship and has launched a £20,000 appeal to save its vital befriending service.
