A TEACHING assistant at a Cudworth school has been crowned the best in the country.
Birkwood Primary’s Jill Birch scooped its national Outstanding Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) of the Year gong in London on Monday.
The 43-year-old, who beat off nine other finalists, said: “I was shocked when they read my name out as it was completely unexpected.
“It’s a wonderful thing to win as every finalist who won their regional award do such a fantastic job.”
