POLICE are investigating an armed robbery after a man wielding a black handgun entered a Darfield bookmaker.
Staff were threatened by the man in the Coral shop, Garden Street, at 5.40pm on Monday.
A police spokeswoman said: “The man is said to have threatened two members of staff in the bookmakers before stealing about £700 of cash and leaving on foot.
“No shots were fired during the incident and no one was injured, however the two members of staff were understandably left shaken by the incident.”
The man is described as about 5ft 10in and of a slender build. He was wearing a fluorescent orange high visibility vest with a black jacket underneath, black gloves and beige combat trousers with black patches between the knee and ankle.
He was also wearing a woolly hat and a black scarf to cover his face.
Coral had no comment this week.
