A DERELICT Victorian villa that has stood empty for almost a decade after falling victim to vandal and arson attacks has been sold, the Chronicle understands.
Westfield House - once considered a landmark home on the edge of Barnsley town centre - has remained empty since it was bought by Barnsley businessman Chris Palmer after Barnsley Council sold it off in 2006 for £585,000.
It is understood the eyesore - which has planning permission for its conversion into five apartments and the construction of a new block of 16 apartments - was sold, subject to contract, last month.
