MUM Keeley Holmes saved her daughter's life using skills she had learnt at a first aid class just weeks before.
Her daughter Anna, two, was tucking into some bacon when she was out with the family at a pub in Wakefield over Easter.
But when a piece became stuck in her throat Anna started choking. Her dad Kieron, 28, tried to dislodge the blockage but had no luck. After a few minutes Anna was starting to lose colour and Kieron passed Anna to Keeley — and everything from the first aid lessons fell into place.
Dental nurse Keeley, 28, of Redcliffe Close, Redbrook, said: “I held her head with my left hand and smacked between her shoulder blades on her back and it came straight up.
“She'd only had a sandwich, you think it’s not going to happen to you. She had gone grey and colour was draining from her. It was awful.
“I automatically remembered what the tutor had said and I felt really comfortable doing what he had told us. We had a lucky escape.”
