A HOYLAND landmark is up for sale on an extensive list of assets the council appears to want rid of.

The Hoyland Lowe Stand will be sold along with numerous shops, ground leases, old school sites and plots of land in the major clear out worth an estimated £85 million.

Now locals are angry that the 18th century folly is one of the unwanted sites to be sold off in the next three years.

Vice chairman of Forge Partnership, Robin Franklin said: “Obviously they need the money but there are certain things that shouldn't be sold off and the Lowe Stand is one of them.

“It is absolutely disgusting that they have let it turn into such a state. Any other place would have looked after it.

“Once again the council will do anything other than repair it.”
