IT’S GAME on for this councillor who will donate £2 to the mayor’s charity for every person who beats him at ping pong.

Coun Kev Williams, who represents the Kingstone ward, laid down the gauntlet ahead of ‘Ping!’ - a national ping pong festival that will be hitting the streets of Barnsley this summer.

The Ping! Festival, which is funded by Sports England, will serve up five fun-filled weeks of ping pong across the borough beginning on June 11.

Barnsley is one of five new locations chosen to host the free event, along with major cities such as Manchester and Newcastle. In total 21 towns and cities around the UK will see the ping pong extravaganza arrive.
