SEVERAL workers at a doctors' surgery have been arrested after one of the receptionists lied to detectives and a coroner investigating the death of an an old woman.
The inquest was dramatically adjourned when Rebecca Woodward told the coroner she had lied to police and had been told what answers to give them by her boss.
Coroner Chris Dorries told the tearful receptionist she could have committed offences as serious as perverting justice and perjury.
Staff from the surgery at 94 Park Grove, Barnsley, were this week arrested and questioned over allegations they had misled the police investigation into the death of Eileen Gill, 82, who died in a house fire in September.
