AN ENVIRONMENTAL group which advises the government has accused Barnsley Council of "systematic failures" in the way it deals with ecological issues.
Natural England sent a letter which slates the planning department for its lack of ecological expertise and systematic failures.
The criticism comes in the same week councillors voted to approve plans for a compost site on fields near Hood Green - despite 728 objections and calls to defer the decision.
