A WALK-IN health centre will stop accepting walk-in patients because it ahs proved too popular.

The surgery, at Gateway Plaza, saw 20,000 walk-in patients in its first year - four times more than budgeted for.

Now the walk-in service will stop until at least April, though it will remain open as a general surgery for the 1,000 registered patients.

Coun Fred Clowery, who is a member of the council's health scrutiny commission, said it was ridiculous to stop such a well-used centre.
