A NEW wrestling show featuring some huge names from WWE is set to be launched in Barnsley later this year.
Global Wrestling Kingdom has been launched by Liam Smedley and Connor McGovern, with Kingstone man Adam Roznowski working with talent.
A wrestling fan all his life, Adam has been around the business for a number of years - even at one point training to become a wrestler himself.
But he’s taken a step back from the ring and the launch of the new show is something he’s been working on for some time.
The 37-year-old told the Chronicle: “This has always been something that I’ve wanted to do.
“My dad was really big into his wrestling.
“Everyone in my household was a big Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart fan.
“I’ve followed it ever since.
“I even trained at one point to become a wrestler but I got injured.”
The first show will be held at the Barnsley Metrodome on August 31 - and they’ve got some huge names lined up.
Former WWE star Matt Riddle - who won the United States Championship and the Tag Team Championships while teamed up with the legendary Randy Orton at the company - is among those headlining the show.
As is Al Snow who was an integral part of WWE, ECW and now Netflix - and he’s set to be the new general manager.
He said: “The UK has always had a rich wrestling heritage.
“With GWK, we’re honouring that legacy - while creating something new, something world-class, something destined to raise the bar.”
Other wrestlers include Love Island star Adam Maxted, YouTuber Simon Miller and Gladiators contestant Wesley Nsereko.
