OLIVER Rowland could take a big step towards his first Formula E title this weekend when he competes in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 31-year-old from Penistone has led the global electric car series all season and is currently 68 points clear after 11 of the 16 races.

He had a difficult last meeting in Shanghai, finishing fifth then 13th in the two races which saw his lead cut down from 86 points.

The next event is a standalone race in Jakarta tomorrow, with victory for Rowland putting him in an almost unassailable position with four races left.

The season concludes with double-headers in Berlin on July 12/13 then London on July 26/27.

Rowland’s team Nissan are a point off the lead in the team championship while they are leading the manufacturer’s championship.
