BLAINE Wilson has returned to kickboxing after a brief spell as a boxer and is hoping to reach the highest levels of the sport.
The 22-year-old from Shafton grew up as a kickboxer then became a professional boxer and won his only fight in 2023.
But he has returned to kickboxing with Barnsley club Combat Academy.
Blaine has so far had three fights as a professional kickboxer, winning two and losing one after going down a weight.
His latest contest is set for June 28 against Mohamed Achach at Magna Centre in Rotherham.
Wilson said: “I had a year out from kickboxing then went to professional boxing with the same management team as Callum Simpson.
“It just wasn’t for me.
“I didn’t have the same feeling as when kickboxing, so I made the transition back.
“I would like to go as far as I can.
“I would love more fights in Asia where the sport is massive and to compete in the ONE Championship which is the biggest you can get.”
Wilson is hoping to fight once a month for the rest of the year in a league in China, but is waiting for that to be confirmed.
