Parent Emma Riley, of Ollerton Road, Athersley, has put forward Athersley South primary in the School of the Year category.
She said it is an 'outstanding' school, an opinion backed by Ofsted inspectors in a report published last week.
"The school will do anything to make sure the pupils are safe at school as well as happy.
"They have a fantastic relationship with the parents and also make sure they are involved with as many activities as they can.
"Having just had an Ofsted inspection, and being judged as outstanding, only proves what a fantastic place it is, in the top ten per cent of schools.
"My son who goes to nursery, has severe eczema and is allergic to loads of stuff so the teachers have changed some of the ingredients they use and also look for things that can be made so not to leave him out.
"I think this is a very generous thing to do, also my daughter who is just six as got straight As in her school report and is above national expectations for maths.
"This is through all the hard work that all the teachers put in."
