IT’S all systems go to get pupils at West Melton primary into tip-top condition to achieve the Healthy School Status award.
All activities have been focussed on health this week including a sponsored walk, aerobics and orienteering for everyone, as well as everyone being involved in a food project on healthy eating.
While the youngest were working on the 5-a-Day campaign for fruit and veg the older ones were learning about health and fitness and the effect on the heart and body.
Everyone was out on the school field on Wednesday for mixed year groups to work in teams and try out lots of sports.
“We want to achieve healthy school status to it’s all about healthy lunches, sport and exercise and making sure the children reach a high level in PE and PSHE,” said headteacher Madeleine Burkett.
“Our dinners didn’t go down very well at first, but they’re popular now and everything is fresh, no processed food and chips only once a week.”
