REDS’ fans who celebrated a vital goal by running onto the pitch at Oakwell could still face police action.

More than 20 went on to the playing surface after Brian Howard scored against Leeds United on Saturday, although only two were arrested.

Two sports photographers were left bruised after being struck by the fans as they poured over the advertising hoardings.

Police officers will now launch an investigation to try and identify the culprits after studying video footage.

Any supporter found to have encroached on the pitch during the game is likely to be banned from Oakwell.

Club chairman Gordon Shepherd stressed the pitch invasion was not large scale or threatening.
