ONLY two of Barnsley's four district markets are managing to make a profit, a review has revealed.
It has been commissioned by Barnsley Council to assess how well Hoyland, Wombwell, Goldthorpe and Penistone district markets are performing, looking at financial figures from 2013/14.
It ran from last October to March this year and found that both Goldthorpe and Penistone are running at an operating loss.
Only Wombwell and Hoyland markets are turning a profit – albeit a small one - and all four markets are struggling to pull in new and younger customers.
