MORE than £300,000 will be put aside for educational and recreational use by a developer given permission to build 100 houses in Monk Bretton.

Bellway Homes has been given the green light to demolish the existing property at 30 Cross Street and build 96 houses on the ‘L’ shaped piece of land.

But as part of the proposals, almost £175,000 must be put aside to improve off-site recreational areas and an additional £140,480 will be used to ease additional classroom places brought about by the development.

The money could either be used to create a new classroom or to refurbish an existing one and must be paid in full before the work starts.
