A BATTLE cry of 'refugees off our streets' rang out in Barnsley town centre yesterday as right-wing demonstrators marched in protest against immigration.

Hundreds had been expected to attend the 'It's not immigration it's invasion' rally and about 80 gathered in the rain outside Barnsley Town Hall before marching down Regent Street, along Eldon Street, up Market Hill and back to the town hall.

Shoppers and staff from businesses on the route watched on as the demonstrators - with a police guard of about a dozen officers - made their message clear with chants of 'shove your f***ing Islam up your ar*e' and 'no surrender', waving flags including a black 'INFIDEL' banner.

It was staged by South Yorkshire Casuals II member Dale Kelk in protest at Barnsley Council offering immigration services to Syrian refugees and concerns over an Islamic infiltration, insisting the demo was about giving the town a voice on immigration.

Other right-wing group members turned out to take part in the march, which passed peacefully, including a contigent from Bishop Auckland Against Islam and the Sunderland Defence League.
