A SERIES of fundraising events have been organised in aid of a cancer-stricken youngster from Shafton who is battling for her life.

The community has pulled together in recent weeks for the Spencer-Cullen family, of Manor View, after four-year-old Isabelle was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of the disease called rhabdomyosarcoma last month.

Brendan Spencer and Julie Cullen, who have six children, took daughter Isabelle to their GP before being sent to Barnsley Hospital due to suspected appendicitis. However, after several tests and scans, that was ruled out and a large tumour was uncovered in her abdomen which required urgent treatment.

Her uncle, Carl Spencer, has been updating wellwishers on the fundraising page and said: “She was referred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital and one week later it was confirmed that Isabelle’s tumour was cancerous.”
